Music for our elders

The Music for our Elders project was born during the health crisis. At first, it took the form of a remote dialogue built around video extracts of Insula orchestra concerts, via video calls, with the residents of several care homes and assisted-living residences in the Hauts-de-Seine. At the root of the project lay an awareness of the isolation of older people.

In a second phase, a visit to La Seine Musicale was organised for the residents — discovering the venue and the Auditorium, and listening to a rehearsal.

Today, a hybrid format combining remote and on-site encounters with musicologists and orchestra musicians is being developed in around ten establishments in the Hauts-de-Seine and in other regions, thanks to support from the Ministry of Culture (DG2TDC) and the Hauts-de-Seine department. The aim is to use music as a way of meeting and exchanging.
