A year with the orchestra
The young illustrator Chloé Wary followed Insula orchestra for a year at La Seine Musicale. She immersed herself behind the scenes of our staged creation “Pastoral for the Planet” with La Fura dels Baus. She met our team, our musicians and Laurence Equilbey — discover her experience in comic form! Chloé, a fan of football, sneakers and rap, knows little about classical music. Yet in this story she takes on one of the greatest composers in history: Ludwig van Beethoven! Through this project, Chloé tells us the behind-the-scenes story of a creation, from its first steps to the final performance. Immersed with the orchestra, she attends rehearsals and meets the musicians, technicians, agents and musicologists who revolve around the project, taking us behind the curtain. She defuses the everyday prejudices surrounding this world little known to the general public and offers a naive, sincere view of classical music and of Beethoven — a figure who is nonetheless not entirely unfamiliar to her, as shown by the pop-culture stars she summons here and there in the comic, such as Alicia Keys and Vitaa, who drew inspiration from the master.
