Schumann, La Nuit des rois
Drawing on Schumann’s last ballads, Laurence Equilbey builds a musical fresco in which power and passion rub shoulders with murder and curses. A page in love with a princess, a jealous king: that is all it takes to fire the imagination of Antonin Baudry — author of the graphic novel Quai d’Orsay — who makes his operatic directing debut, with dreamlike video by Anatole Levilain-Clément.
Performances in May 2021, then revived on 12, 13 and 15 May 2023 at La Seine Musicale.
