Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Dvořák unleash their full orchestral power in this journey through the musical traditions of Eastern Europe, where enchanting melodies meet lively rhythms.
The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor Alevtina Ioffe arrive with a radiant program! Following the delicate overture to May Night, a little-known opera by Rimsky-Korsakov, comes one of the most challenging pieces in the violin repertoire: Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Violinist Timothy Chooi delivers its irresistible lyricism. He also performs the lovely Romance in F minor by Antonín Dvořák. The orchestra concludes with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, constantly shifting between minor and major keys—serene yet full of contrasts.
