À propos
A recital in the form of a confidence. Anderszewski does not interpret works—he inhabits them, exploring the shadows and silences of the Romantic piano with rare intensity.
In this recital, the Polish pianist juxtaposes two summits of the piano repertoire. Franz Schubert’s Sonata in C minor D 958, written in 1828, opens the evening: a music of restrained tension and inwardness. Alongside it, Anderszewski offers a selection of piano pieces by Brahms. Compact, almost whispered pages, written at the end of the composer’s life, they explore another form of inwardness, favouring concentration of discourse, restraint, and nuance.
