À propos
The encounter between violinist Gil Shaham and the orchestra’s principal conductor Stanislav Kochanovsky is worthy of a masterpiece of the violin repertoire. Gil Shaham is a legend: acclaimed by the greatest, from conductor Claudio Abbado to composer John Williams – who even dedicated a concerto to him – the violinist is one of the rare performers to have won a Grammy Award.
Alongside the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover Orchestra, Gil Shaham tackles Brahms’s Violin Concerto, which, when it was premiered in 1879, marked a breakthrough in the history of the genre. Placing the violin sometimes at the heart of the orchestra, sometimes at the height of technical difficulty, the Romantic composer masterfully reinvented the concerto genre.
