À propos
The Trio Zeliha revives the ardour of the Romantic salons through two summits of chamber music by Felix Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann.
The Trio Zeliha, an outstanding young French ensemble, imagines an evening of chamber music at the Schumanns’, at the heart of German Romanticism. In 1839, Mendelssohn composed his Trio No. 1 in D minor, immediately hailed by Robert Schumann as “the master trio of our time.” In 1846, Clara Schumann in turn wrote her Trio in G minor. An admired virtuoso long constrained by the conventions of her era, she doubted her legitimacy as a composer—and yet this music exists, at once an intimate confession and a gesture of artistic emancipation.
Performed by the Trio Zeliha, whose violinist Manon Galy was the Révélation of the Victoires de la Musique 2022, this programme brings this Romantic heritage back to life with rare intensity.
