À propos

For the festive season, let there be light! Between intimate fervour and celestial trumpets, this Christmas programme culminates in the radiant collective jubilation of Bach’s “Magnificat”.

To celebrate Christmas, this programme is built around the Magnificat by Johann Sebastian Bach, a vast fresco of joy and light bringing together choir, orchestra, and soloists. Bach unfolds a collective exultation, shot through with more intimate, almost suspended moments.

In echo, two cantatas illuminate its contrasts: the BWV 115, of Lutheran inspiration, invites contemplation and inner listening. In contrast, BWV 191, Gloria in excelsis Deo, bursts forth as a jubilant hymn of praise. Between intimate fervour and festive brilliance, this programme reveals a profoundly human Bach, where Christmas becomes both celebration and meditation.

At the helm of accentus and Insula orchestra—a choir of excellence and a period-instrument orchestra—Laurence Equilbey brings to this repertoire a knowledge and a passion cultivated over many years. One of the unmissable events of the season.

This concert is performed on period instruments.
