Georg Friedrich Haendel
Georg Friedrich Handel’s first great operatic success, Agrippina, was triumphantly received in Venice after it premiered in 1709. To mark its 40th anniversary, the Accademia Bizantina will revive the opera seria in which Agrippina conspires to put her son Nero on the throne. When writing this score at just 25 years of age, Handel already demonstrated his great psychological finesse and dazzling sense of vocal drama.
