Baroque without borders.
Jeanine De Bique, the Trinidadian soprano acclaimed at the Opéra de Paris in major Baroque roles—from Alcina to Susanna—ventures into a programme as daring as it is unprecedented: creating a dialogue between the great opera arias of Handel and Rameau and the traditional music of the Caribbean—wedding songs, dance tunes, and island percussion.
A journey back and forth between two shores of the Atlantic, between Baroque Europe and the 18th-century Caribbean, revealing unsuspected connections between these two worlds.
At her side, Apollo’s Fire—one of the most acclaimed American Baroque ensembles, founded by harpsichordist Jeannette Sorrell—makes its debut at La Seine Musicale. Praised by the international press (BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone), the ensemble is renowned for its programmes conceived as vivid, theatrical musical narratives.
