À propos
From Johann Sebastian Bach to his sons, Ophélie Gaillard and the Pulcinella Orchestra reveal the full inventiveness of a flourishing musical dynasty.
For the Bachs, music was a family affair. This extraordinary dynasty of musicians—spanning seven generations—continues to shine today thanks to Johann Sebastian. Yet it would be wrong to overlook the remarkable work of several of his sons, who also left their mark as composers.
The Pulcinella Orchestra, conducted from the cello by Ophélie Gaillard, presents the iconic Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 alongside works by Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel, as well as their godfather Telemann. Women composers also shone in this era, like Anna Amalia of Prussia—patron of Carl Philipp and sister to Frederick II, the enlightened monarch and avid flutist.
This concert is interpreted on period instruments.
