À propos

The San Diego Symphony arrives in France for the first time with Rafael Payare—and it is a spectacular entrance.

From the enchantment of Stravinsky’s The Firebird to the urban energy of the Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, this dazzling programme also features Kauyumari by Mexican composer Gabriela Ortiz, a Grammy laureate. Leonidas Kavakos takes on Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 1, revealing all its dramatic tension.

Trained in Venezuela’s El Sistema, Payare has established himself on the international stage through his passion and infectious energy. Fanfare sums it up: “The ferocity he unleashes with his musicians is visceral; it grabs you in the gut.” An exceptional event.
