À propos
The DNA of Baroque at its peak. Bach reinvents the rules of the game for each instrument, creating a sonic firework display of timeless audacity and inventiveness.
In 1721, Bach presented the Margrave of Brandenburg with six concertos intended to showcase the full extent of his art. More than a collection of brilliant pieces, they constitute a demonstration of formal daring and instrumental mastery, designed to strike both the ear and the mind. Behind the instrumental brilliance lies a music of the court, conceived as a language of power as much as a work of art.
The Freiburger Barockorchester, a leading interpreter of Bach for over thirty years, offers three contrasting facets: the spectacular Concerto No. 1 dominated by horns, the Concerto No. 6 reserved for strings alone, and the Concerto No. 2, which pushes virtuosity to its extreme by pitting trumpet, flute, oboe, and violin against one another.
This concert is performed on period instruments.
