À propos

Vincent Dumestre and Adèle Charvet bring Dido & Aeneas to life in a vibrant performance. An immersion into the heart of English Baroque.

Dido, Queen of Carthage, is a woman torn between duty and the all-consuming passion she feels for Prince Aeneas. When her lover suddenly abandons her to found Rome, she succumbs in a heartbreaking lament. Here, Henry Purcell delivers one of the greatest English lyrical masterpieces. This late‑17th‑century opera, filled with desire, conflict, and emotion, will be interspersed with instrumental interludes and performed by Vincent Dumestre along with the choir and orchestra of Poème Harmonique, with mezzo‑soprano Adèle Charvet in the title role.
