The visit of the Taiwan Philharmonic and Kit Armstrong, the prodigious American pianist of Taiwanese origin will bring a taste of Asia to the Seine Musicale. Talent-scouted at just 12 by Alfred Brendel, Armstrong will be playing Camille Saint-Saëns’ last concerto, the “Egyptian”, so named as it was written in Luxor. With Eastern accents, the work will be followed by Tchaikovsky’s musical testament, the one he battled with to the last: the 6th Symphony, known as the “Pathétique”.
