Minkowski - Mozart, Symphonies 39 & 40
FESTIVAL MOZART MAXIMUM
Minkowski – Mozart, Symphonies 39 & 40
Marc Minkowski and the Musiciens du Louvre will bring down the curtain on the Insula orchestra season at La Seine Musicale with Mozart’s last two symphonies, both written in the summer of 1788. Tinted in places with melancholy, the expressiveness of the 39th Symphony paves the way for Romanticism, as does the 40th, the composer’s most intense, feverish and indeed tragic.
When Marc Minkowski and Les Musiciens du Louvre are guests at La Seine Musicale in Paris, they also come as ambassadors of the Mozartfest Würzburg. In 2021, the oldest Mozart festival in Germany will celebrate its 100th anniversary, and for this occasion will send its Artists in Residence from previous seasons on a tour across Europe: The performers will travel to Paris and four other European cities that have played a central role in Mozart’s life and will perform in Würzburg shortly afterwards. The European initiative follows Mozart’s footsteps and contributes to cultural exchange on an international scale.
