Our “Russian island” could hardly ignore the great Russian repertory, and one work in particular: Shostakovich’s violin concerto n°1. John Ehnes, the brilliant Canadian violinist, will bring his subtle, discerning interpretation of the work, characterised by a strong sense of phrasing, timbre, and a fascinating approach to rhythm and melody.
He will be accompanied on an all too rare visit to France by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, led by its talented Danish conductor, Thomas Sondergard.
An opportunity for Paris to discover a conductor whose career began with engagements with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Here, he will lead his orchestra through an impassioned rendering of his favoured repertory: Sibelius.
19 May 2017 - 20h30
