The origins of Europe’s national anthems, Concerto Köln

The origins of Europe’s national anthems, Concerto Köln

1h10 without interval

Due to the measures taken as part of the health crisis, we regret to announce the cancellation of the À l’origine des hymnes européens concert originally scheduled for December 6, 2020.

Johann Christian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Joseph Haydn…
Histoire des hymnes européens : God Save the Queen, La Marseillaise…

We all know La Marseillaise and God Save the King, but we know less about how, before being adopted as national anthems, these tunes were inspired by composers like François-Joseph Gossec and Ludwig van Beethoven. Exploring the evocative power of the music and its potential links with politics, the legendary Concerto Köln, assisted by Simon Zaoui, explain the fascinating story of Europe’s national anthems, from Poland to the UK, via the Netherlands and Germany.

06 December 2020 - 11h00
Auditorium de La Seine Musicale (de 10 à 25 €)
