Letters from Mozart to his father
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Arias and mélodies
Antoine Dauvergne

“Paris has changed quite a bit”, wrote Mozart to his father during a stay in the city in 1778. At the age of 22, Mozart was no longer perceived as a child prodigy but as a musician whose propensity to ignore formalities did not help his introduction to French aristocratic society. His stay in Paris went from bad to tragic when his mother died there. All that remain of the period are the important letters he exchanged with his father, back home in Salzburg. Actor Thierry Geffrotin reads excerpts from the letters as airs by Mozart and his contemporary Dauvergne bring back the life of 18th century Paris.
