“Prince, what you are, you are by virtue of your birth. What I am is what I have made myself. Of princes, there have been and will be thousands. There is only one Beethoven.” The composer made this bold claim when he was at the height of his “heroic” period. In 1806, Beethoven asserted his independence towards his patron and wrote his violin concerto. 210 years later, the work is interpreted by the violinist Viktoria Mullova, teaming up again with Insula orchestra in a concert that is 100% Beethoven.
