ÎLOT BEETHOVEN248 :
Time is sometimes a great ally. Beethoven’s only violin concerto is today one of the world’s most regularly played and recorded. The young, charismatic and wonderfully gifted violinist Lorenzo Gatto will give an account of the full, explosive power of this work composed at a time when Beethoven had just become secretly engaged to Thérèse von Brunswick. A relative rarity on the concert calendar is Bizet’s Symphony in C, written when he was just 17 and rediscovered in 1933, no fewer than 78 years after it was premiered. The concert is an opportunity to discover this symphony that has a special place in the work of the composer of Carmen. Decidedly, time is a good friend indeed!
